Day 27 Missing in Action but walking30 every day

It's minus 18 C and the wind is blowing ... this is where you want to be!
Day 27 and I have been away from my computer for the past 10 days.  I want to blame the work load that February has brought but I have been putting in my 30 minutes a day ... it just seems too much to walk30 and write about it too.

Today the weather was brutal!! I am not sure that everyone knows what a white out is but it involves a whole lot of wind, snow blowing fiercely and sub-zero arctic like weather. I walked home from the office today and I was seriously worried that I would make it with my poor face intact ... the frost was forming! Even our dog didn't want to go for a walk!
That's it for me. I hope everyone is warm and cozy where ever you are!

Day 17 Family Day Walk30 was ... really cold!!

I thought this looked pretty chilling ... sealed in ice
Day 17 ... this morning the temperature was minus 23 degrees C. OMG,  I am not usually that concerned with the cold since I have been walking in the winter these past 8 years but I think that there is a limit.  I went out for my walk30 and all I could think of was getting back home to the warmth. I wear my running shoes out there in the winter and my feet are never cold ... but today I thought they were atarting to freeze ... not a good sign.
I still believe that you can get out there and walk no matter what but as I sit here listening to the wind howl outside my window I think that I will stay in and do some stairs.
For those of you who can make it to Waterloo to walk with us ... here is the weekly news ...

Day 15 and 16 Walking30 on the weekend

Snow drifts piled high in Owen Sound ... my friend Uwe and his dog zoo!

Saturday morning was clear and cold ... nice for a walk though
Day 15 and 16 ... it was a sunny weekend and great for walking.  We had a 10 K walk on Saturday and it was a slip, slidy walk around our route. I am sure that we could add on another 3 ot 4 Km with all of the snow on the path.
It is a good idea to take it a little slower when the conditions are like this.  You never know when you might hit a patch of ice or a very uneven sidewalk.

Today was another sunny Sunday so I had a walk with Annie our dog in the afternoon and then another moonlit walk tonight.  It was good to get out there ... today was also a computer work day so it was a welcome break to get out the door.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Day 13 and 14 Walking in Niagara Falls

Day 13 and 14 Happy Valentines Day!
Dave and I decided to get out of town and headed to Niagara on Thursday! Here is the view from our room at the Marriot!
WOW!
Both days were cloudy and damp but who cares when you are away from home. We visited the 30 Bench Winery and wandered around Niagara Falls a little.  I ended up doing my walk30 on a treadmill both days in the exercise room but ... what the heck ... I walked!

We are back home and back to reality ... that's okay ... walking tomorrow with the group for 10 K.

Day 11 and 12 Walking30 with a little strength training thrown in for good measure!

Walking on a sunny day!

Day 11 and 12 ... Walking30 with a little strength training thrown in for good measure
A quick report on the last 2 days would include 2 thirty minute walks ... but in addition to that yesterday I did a bootcamp strength training video and today I was doing a little power yoga.  I think that I am on a strengthening kick ... long over do.

Having my Fitbit back is so great ... it is definitely motivating me to meet my goals and move beyond them a bit.

Day 10 I love my FitBit!

Day 10  ... Last week I lost my Fitbit! ... and I felt a little lost myself.  :(

Meet my Fitbit :)

If you don't know what a Fitbit is ... it is a very helpful little device that you can wear all day to count your steps and even measure how many flights of stairs you climb! The Fitbit will also follow you to bed and keep track of your sleep patterns and tell you how many hours and the quality of your sleep you had the night before. I wear my Fitbit every day and it connects to a website that tracks my data and allows me to create goals for myself.  It sends me messages to tell me how I am doing and if I need to get in more steps to meet my goal for the day. It also sends me awards and tells me how awesome I am. What more can you ask for in life!

But somehow last week I couldn't find it and I felt at a loss ... so I decided to email the Fitbit support team! They were fantastic ... they gave me a list of things to do to find it and were really committed to helping me find it again. They even made sure to ask that I would get back to them to let them to let them know if I had found it (or not) so that they could help me further if it wasn't located.  Once before I accidentally put my Fitbit through the wash and they told me to try putting it in rice and ... tada!! ... it came alive again!!

Well yesterday I found my Fitbit and now I am back on track and  tracking my steps, hills and sleep patterns.

A big thank you goes out to Eric and the Fitbit support team!

Day 9 Walking Weekend

DAY 9 THIS WEEKEND WAS ALL ABOUT WALKING!!

That's right ... just a walk30 can make all the difference!

We had a great weekend talking to loads and loads of people about the race this May 11th!  We were at the Total Woman Show and it was a LOT of fun!
I am not sure how many people were there at the show but we gave out almost 1000 of our promotion cards and ignited quite a few individuals and teams toward participating in the Minds in Motion K W Walking Classic on Mothers Day.  We also talked to a number of people about mental health and how moving your body could very well help your mind ...
As for me I was on my feet all day networking with people so I am on track for a lot more than my 30 minutes a day this weekend.

No matter where you are come and join us for the Minds In Motion K W Walking Classic On May 11th in Waterloo, Ontario! Check it out!  www.kwwalkingclassic.com

Time to rest.

Sue
